Is the MIND Diet Right for Your Elderly Loved One?

Implementing the MIND Diet 

If you want to help your elderly loved one start the MIND diet, there are some foods that you can get your elderly loved one started on. Your elderly loved one should be eating leafy green vegetables, other vegetables, and nuts every single day. They should also be eating berries, fish, and poultry at least 2 times a week. Beans should be eaten every other day. Whole grains should be eating 3 times every day. Vegetable oil should be replaced with olive oil.  

 

Your elderly loved one should also avoid eating red meats, cheese, margarine and butter, pastries, and other sweets. They should also avoid eating fast food and fried foods.  

 

The MIND diet isn’t right for everyone. However, it is a simple diet to follow. If you want to help your elderly loved one to live a better life and help improve their health, you should encourage them to start on this diet. They don’t even have to jump into it all at once. You can slowly start having them incorporate one or two of the things from the approved food list above. After they get used to doing that, you can have them add in something else.
