Laura Wentling, Certified Senior Advisor  Laura 1

President & Partner

Laura has been involved in the home care industry for more than 20 years. She knows all the aspects of the business and what it takes to provide excellent customer service. Her ability to focus on clients and personal attendants on an individual basis makes her an outstanding leader. Marinating a standard of professionalism and quality with her administrative staff and personal attendants through direct interaction, is a goal which Laura strives to meet daily. Laura is a “hands on” partner and is always available to meet with both our clients and personal attendants when needed.

Regina 1

Regina Barmore

Director of Operations & Partner

Regina is the person in the office than can do just about everything and loves the daily interaction with staff, personal attendants and clients. Primarily she assists the President and Vice President when needed. Her background includes working within the home care industry since 2006 and working for Kaiser Permanente for 35 years in the Communications Dept. Regina has been married to David for almost 25 years. She has 3 daughters, 2 stepdaughters and 9 grandchildren. During her free time, she enjoys listening to audio books while she knits and crochets. Regina has donated over 100 hand made blankets to children and adults in need of a little extra warmth.


Pam Greene, RN

Vice President/Client Care Manager

Pam has multiple years of nursing experience in a variety of settings ranging from school nursing, nursing homes, hospital and doctor’s offices (with the latter being over 20 years in Dermatology).  She has worked in various positions from staff nurse to charge nurse to office coordinator.  She enjoys having a lot of variety in her jobs and life.  Pam is a mother of two wonderful sons, who she has had the pleasure of being involved with and as assisting in the transitions of their lives.  Pam’s passions are organization, various crafts, being physically active, and spending time with friends and family. She loves working with the elderly and feels she has a calling to work with hospice. Pam is so excited about this new adventure in life with Familiar Surroundings Home Care.

DonnaDonna Cassidy, RN

Client Care Manager

Donna has over 45 years of nursing experience in Acute Care, Home Care, Home Health Care, and Hospice. Donna also has management experience as a Director of Nursing, Branch Manager, and Regional Manager in Home Health Care. In addition to her other experiences, Donna has an extensive background in teaching. Donna has 2 sons, Michael and Bill (both police officers), 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She enjoys golfing, crochet, and quilting. Donna is very excited to join Familiar Surroundings Home Care at this time in her career.

NikieNikie Rubin, RN

Client Care Manager

Nikie is a native of San Jose and received her Public Health degree at San Jose State University. Soon after, she moved to Illinois where she received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She has had over 4 years of health care experience most of which takes part in clinics and home care. In her free time she enjoys being physically active and eating healthy, spending time with friends and family, hiking and camping and loves to watch all kinds of sports including Golden State Warriors basketball.

Director of Sales and Marketing

With over 20 years of hospitality and sales experience, Steve is well known for his expert customer service and cheerful positive attitude. His knowledge and background in the areas of independent & assisted living, secured memeory care and skilled nursing makes Steve a valuable asset to our winning team. It is his belief that honesty, integrity and open communication are the key to building meaningful, long lasting relationships. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, martial arts and playing music.

As a community relations representative, Joshua is responsible for educating the community about senior care. Joshua loves working with people, especially helping Seniors directly, making them feel comfortable and ensuring they receive the best possible care. In his previous work, he worked customer service in the low voltage and data industry. In his free time, he enjoys being active by playing sports and spending time with his husky.

Community Relations Representative

As a community service representative, Garrett is responsible for the safe and comfortable transportation of our wonderful clients. He has enjoyed working with our human resources department, as well as the marketing team. Born and raised in the bay area, Garrett feels very fortunate to help in his community and provide the best experience possible for his elders. In his spare time, Garrett enjoys spending time with friends and family, golfing, and snowboarding.


Ruby Soria

Lead Client Service Coordinator

Ruby is responsible for assisting clients and caregivers with scheduling as well as answering phone calls and assisting in various office duties. Ruby’s background consists of experience working as patient coordinator at a hospital and a customer service representative at a bank.  Ruby’s experience, flexible personality, and eagerness to learn make her a great fit and asset to the company. In Ruby’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her family.

Esmeralda came to Familiar Surroundings with an eagerness to learn about home care and to apply her 9+ years of pharmaceutical customer service representative experience. Since joining the company, Esmeralda helps with the hiring of our quality caregivers. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her children, salsa dancing, and loves attending sports events.

Christopher is responsible for billing, payments, invoices, and various accounting functions. His background involves accounts receivable and payable, as well as business owner where he learned all the intricacies of operations. He enjoys being organized and multi-tasking at work. In his spare time, Christopher enjoys cycling, running, hiking, and the outdoors.

Ashley 1Denise Huber

Administrative Assistant

Denise Huber is a seasoned Administrative Assistant with over 30 years experience. Having held positions in various business fields, Denise has spent the past 8 years working with Home Care Companies that provide services for seniors. She is passionate about assisting seniors with their needs and appreciates the dedicated caregivers that provide these services. Denise is able to tailor her best skills in assisting Familiar Surroundings with their daily operations. Her contributions in organizing, helping executive staff with special projects, and attention to detail has supported a harmonious and successful work environment within the company. In addition to her duties as an Administrative Assistant, Denise is also active and involved with the Classic Car Communities of Santa Clara County. Denise spent the past 9 years restoring a 1968 Mustang Coupe and enjoys attending several car show events. Additionally, she participates in giving back to the community by donating her time in assisting the Second Harvest Food Bank with their annual fundraising needs and is a yearly contributor to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Ashley 1Sarah Wentling

Administrative Assistant

Sarah has been working in the home care field for over 3 years. Her background also includes teaching children ballet as well as other forms of dance. Sarah’s patient, kind, and helpful which makes her a great part of the administrative staff. Sarah helps manage the phones, and other front office responsibilities. When Sarah is not working she is pursuing her Associate’s Degree at West Valley College. Sarah’s hobbies include all forms of dance, hiking, and horseback riding.

MicheleMichele Vallente

Client Service Coordinator

Michele has over 18 years of experience in the field of Human Resources. She has worked at both Natividad Medical Center and a Home Care Agency in the Monterey County area. She strives for a high professional work ethic, which includes not only being dedicated to her job and highly organized, but her positive attitude and compassion with and for people, treating others with heart and balanced mindfulness. Her downtime includes outdoor activities such as camping, the beach, dancing, supporting live music and family gatherings.

AlexandraAlexandra “Lexi” Dennis

Client Service Coordinator

Lexi is a Bay Area native and graduated from California State University, Chico. Her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology ignited her passion in health care, and has thus launched her career in the medical field. She loves working with patients directly, and is dedicated to ensuring the absolute best care and service. In her spare time, Lexi spends most of her time hiking through her local Santa Cruz Mountains or relaxing at the beach.

JenniferJennifer Arata

Transition Specialist

Jennifer recently retired from 25 years in Law Enforcement as a Senior Public Safety Dispatcher, Police Radio Dispatcher, and 911 Telephone Operator. She received her AA Degree in Liberal Arts from Mission College in Santa Clara, California. She lives with her Fiancé Doug in Morgan Hill with their 2 children, Marissa (10) and Jack (7). In her free time, Jennifer enjoys spoiling her dog, exercising, and quilting.
