Her ability to focus on clients and personal attendants on an individual basis makes her an outstanding leader. Maintaining a standard of professionalism and quality with her administrative staff and personal attendants through direct interaction, is a goal which Laura strives to meet daily. Laura is a “hands on” partner and is always available to meet with both our clients and personal attendants when needed.

His background involves accounting, as well as business owner where he learned all the intricacies of operations. He enjoys being organized and multi-tasking at work. In his spare time, Christopher enjoys cycling, running, hiking, and the outdoors.

    Pam has multiple years of nursing experience in a variety of settings ranging from school nursing, nursing homes, hospitals, doctor’s offices and hospice. She enjoys having a lot of variety in her jobs and personal life. Pam is the mother of two wonderful sons and she enjoys spending time with them. Pam’s passions are organization, various crafts, being physically active, working around her house, and spending time with friends and family. She loves working with the elderly and enjoys being a part of the Familiar Surroundings Home Care family.

    My name is Maria Rodriguez Tamayo I currently started as the Human Resources Coordinator at Familiar Surroundings Home Care. I am happily married and have 2 lovely boys. I was born and raised in San Jose CA. In 2008 I completed the Medical Assisting course and in 2019 I also completed the CNA and HHA courses. In my future I want to study to become an RN. I am very passionate when it comes to cooking. I love spending time with my family and friends. I love collecting owl and ladybug figures. I am grateful for all the opportunities that come when I get to help others and interact with new people. I am thankful to be part of Familiar Surroundings; my TEAM is the best.

    Sarah has been working in the home care field for over 5 years. Before coming into the home care field, she spent most of her time teaching ballet and many other forms of dance as well school activities. Sarah is patient, kind, and dedicated to her work, which makes her an asset to the administrative staff. Sarah helps manage the front desk, and many other administrative responsibilities. When Sarah is not working, she is pursuing two separate Bachelor's degrees at San Jose State University. Sarah’s hobbies include many forms of dance, hiking, and going to the beach.

  • Denise Huber

    Human Resources Coordinator

    Denise Huber is a seasoned Administrative Assistant with over 30 years’ experience. Having held positions in various business fields, Denise has spent the past 15 years working with Home Care Companies that provide services for seniors. She is passionate about assisting seniors with their needs and appreciates the dedicated caregivers that provide these services. Denise can tailor her best skills in assisting Familiar Surroundings with their daily operations. Her contributions in organizing, helping executive staff with special projects, and attention to detail has supported a harmonious and successful work environment within the company. In addition to her duties as an Administrative Assistant, Denise is also active and participates in giving back to the community by donating her time in assisting the Second Harvest Food Bank with their annual fundraising needs and is a yearly contributor to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.  Denise enjoys spending time with her classic car family,  enjoys gardening and spending time with her family and friends.

    Community Relations Representative

    Michael spent the last 30+ years in public service, first in the United States Army, then as a San Jose Police Sergeant. Upon his retirement from police work, he joined the family business to continue his passion for helping others. In his free time, Michael enjoys being part of several service groups such as Rotary Club and American Legion where he can continue to give back to the community. He also enjoys playing golf and any other outdoor activity.

    Community Relations Representative

    As a community relations representative, Joshua is responsible for educating the community about senior care. Joshua loves working with people, especially helping seniors directly, making them feel comfortable and ensuring they receive the best possible care. In his previous employment, he worked customer service in the low voltage and data industry. In his free time, he enjoys being active by playing sports and spending time with his pets.

    Client Service Coordinator

    Stephanie Hughes is the Lead Client Service Coordinator at Familiar Surroundings. In addition to overseeing all Client Service Coordinators, she shares coordination of caregivers for Santa Clara and Santa Cruz County clients. Stephanie is a dedicated and compassionate member of the Familiar Surroundings team, and she strives to provide clients with outstanding service and caregivers with a fantastic working experience. Stephanie has worked in the home-care industry for four years and has a background in human resources. Stephanie is a San Jose local resident, and she enjoys spending time outdoors and with her children.

    Community Relations Representative

    Jessica is a Client Service Coordinator at Familiar Surroundings. She shares coordination of caregivers for Santa Clara and Contra Costa County clients. As a Client Service Coordinator, Jessica is the first line of contact for her clients and their caregivers. She is committed to ensuring that clients receive exceptional service and that caregivers enjoy their working experience. Jessica is a hard-working and diligent member of the Familiar Surroundings team with six years of customer service experience. Jessica is a Bay Area local resident, and enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors and crafting.

    Monica has recently joined the Familiar Surroundings Home Care family but has been serving our Santa Clara and San Mateo community for a little over four years. Monica is committed to serve our clients and caregivers with exceptional customer service. Monica is also a Bay Area Native! When Monica is not working you can find her spending time with her family, friends, and her 2 cats. Some of Monica's hobbies include shopping, dinning experience, traveling, and arts & crafts.

  • Mell Ortiz

    Client Service Coordinator

    Mell is a deeply valued Community Relations Representative with Familiar Surrounding Home Care, responsible for educating the community about senior care.  Mell joined our team with more than 10 years of experience in health care during which time she gained knowledge and experience with hospice, home health, acute and skilled nursing.  She is also skilled in financial marketing.  Mell loves mingling, assisting staff, patients and their families and educating the community.  Among her greatest passions is creating awareness regarding compassionate senior home care in our community.  When Mell is not providing excellent services for Familiar Surroundings, she can be found pursuing her other passions such as singing and dancing and serving her community in many other different ways.  Her hobbies are in alignment with her number one goal in life – To “Do Good” wherever she goes.
